About McKinney Co. Designs
McKinney Co. is a sustainable brand inspired by family and tradition. Looking back at my family's traditions of making do and mending, and using traditional craft techniques to bring new life into our surroundings, I use second-hand, deadstock, and sustainably sourced materials to bring a new twist to classic Western-inspired styles.
All McKinney Co. fabrics are sourced as either deadstock fabrics, or second hand fabrics from re-sell websites and charity shops, giving these materials a second chance at a meaningful life. The knitwear is produced using sustainably sourced yarns for comfort and durability. At McKinney Co., ethical production is highly valued, which is why all items are produced here in my work room in Limerick, Ireland.
About myself, my name is Rachel McKinney and I am the owner, pattern drafter, designer, sewist, knitter, etc. behind McKinney Co. Designs. Growing up, I was always drawing, sewing, crocheting, or making something. As I reached my adult years, I found myself craving these activities in my every day life. In 2024, I graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a BA Honors degree in Fashion and Textiles for Product and Costume Design. I focused my final collection and thesis work around Sustainability, Emotional Durability, and the tradition behind crafts. My work was received with many accolades, and also was the recipient of a 2024 Design and Crafts Council Ireland Future Makers Award.
